We are calling on Brand Vaughan as one of the biggest lettings agents in the city to end their practices that contribute to the housing crisis. We are demanding that they begin following the upcoming renting laws laid out in the Renters Rights Act. This includes a ban of Section 21 'no fault' evictions and a ban on demands for 6 months rent up front. Which is used to fleece those out of work and with no family in the country.

We are also calling on them to go one step further in providing necassary housing by removing their policy on demanding guarantors for people on UC or housing benefits. People out of work are less likely to have someone in their life who can provide this and is therefore making it impossible for those out of work to get housing.

As our government and the country have decided that the renters rights act should be law and that the practice of ‘no fault’ evictions should be banned. The people of Brighton and Hove are calling on you to follow these laws from now on, as well as ending discrimination against people out of work.
The practice of 'no fault' evictions have for a long time been one of the largest causes of homelessness. Those that are out of work facing eviction will struggle or be unable to find further accommodation due to the demand of guarantors which people out of work or on low incomes will not be able to meet. 
Housing benefit and UC provide the rent for people out of work and on low incomes so this is guaranteed to you and treating this differently to a salary is another form of discrimination. 
To reiterate our demands are: 
You immediately implement the renters rights act laws as part of your daily business practice
You end the practice of not renting to those on UC or housing benefit by demanding guarantors they cannot provide
We will be continuing this campaign until these demands are met.
