Tell Blackpool Council- Refurb not rebuild!

Blackpool Council want to force hundreds of people out of their homes, split apart communities and leave people financially unsupported. ACORN Blackpool is standing up against them, but we need as many people on board as possible to do it.

We're fighting for refurb not rebuilding, for the council to invest money into neglected properties, rather than demolishing ones that don't need to be demolished. If the regeneration does go ahead, we need to fight  for better consultation, more compensation, and a right to return.

We the undersigned are residents of Revoe and Blackpool who wish to stand up to Blackpool Councils plans to demolish 400 houses and replace them with just 230. Revoe does need investment and regeneration, but the way the council is going about it will force hundreds out of their homes, send many people into financial hardship, and split apart communities.

We are demanding that the council:

1) Pause the regeneration on Revoe, focussing specifically on regenerating properties that need it, rather than knocking down houses that don't.

2) For homes that do need to be demolished, tenants living there should be given right of return. Many Revoe residents have put down roots in the area, have jobs, family, caregivers in Revoe. A significant number have children who go to school in Revoe,  whose lives will be disrupted if they are not allowed to return.

3) Proper compensation for those who have been removed. Currently, none of the compensation being offered will be enough to buy or rent elsewhere in Blackpool, or in the wider area. With thousands already on the housing waiting list, this leaves people at risk of homelessness and severe financial hardship.
