ACORN is standing up to United Utilities after they messed with our member Yasmin. We know she's not the only one who they've tried to take for a ride. We want to know if they've ever overcharged you, given you lots of excuses for their mistakes, or if you just want to see them do better for people in the North West!

Last year, United Utilities made £355m profiting from an essential service. They’ve made that money underinvesting in infrastructure we need to survive, polluting our waterways, and swindling ordinary people like Yasmin. The CEOs of these water companies are earning over a million pounds a year while bleeding the county dry. Water companies are behind on spending to reduce sewage as they just don't care about the environment and just want our money. Bills keep increasing, and we are expected to pay in advance for this service with no alternative.

Pollution is higher, bills are higher, bailiff use is higher. As we need water to survive, we believe we should be entitled to clean, affordable water and that water companies shouldn't get away with robbing us.

Yasmin got a meter installed that she didn’t want and upped her bills without telling her why. They'd gone over the maximum they said they would charge her and instead of a proper explanation they gave her a refund in credit out of “goodwill”, then upped her bill again and took it all back! United Utilities want to manipulate and shut her up, but she’s not having it. ACORN members are taking action.

If you or a friend have had a bad experience with United Utilities, we want you to get in touch. Together, we're going to demand United Utilities do better, and show that people power can stand up to privatised services.
