ACORN London region

ACORN members at Exbury house have been waiting on an entry ramp for too long, stopping us from safely entering their own homes. We’re sick and tired of poor maintenance and repairs taking too long to complete.

In Exbury house we have parents of young children, disabled people, cyclists, elderly people and more and many of us have expressed feeling "trapped" in our homes due to the lack of safe access via a ramp. We’re fed p of waiting for maintenance and proper care when we all pay our service charge.

Hackney council have a duty to ensure the housing they provide is safe and residents should not have to wait this long for works to be carried out!

While we acknowledge the Council's efforts following the ACORN Hackney protest on June 17th, including the cleaning 'walk around', communications via letters and text messages, and the repair of both lifts, we still have serious concerns about the condition and maintenance of the blocks and the wider estate.

Send an email to Mayor Woodley and Cabinet Member for Housing Cllr McKenzie, to demand the following

  1. Commit to monthly maintenance of the lifts in Exbury House

  2. Provide a clear timeframe for building the accessibility ramp at Exbury House

  3. Schedule a meeting with Mayor Woodley and Rickardo Hyatt within a month to discuss these issues and implementation of solutions
